Much information about FFN test operation
Besides the checklists www.ffntest.nl contains lots of background. So what explains a premature birth and what it might mean for the child. Of course, attention is given to the functioning of the FFN test, which is conducted by a gynecologist or obstetrician. The test works on a simple principle. During pregnancy the amniotic sac adhering to the inside of the uterus by means of an adhesive: fetal fibronectin (FFN). In a normal pregnancy, the fetal fibronectin only loose in the last week before birth and can currently be measured in the vaginal secretions with a simple Pap test. In women at increased risk of preterm birth this matter much earlier than usual, between the 22nd and 35th week of pregnancy, found in the vaginal secretions. If the test result is negative, this means that 99.2 percent accuracy can be determined that the woman in the next two weeks will not like it. The test is valid for two weeks and must then be repeated. A positive result gives a real chance of a premature birth. The doctor can then direct an appropriate medical plan.
